Satyagraha is part of Outrage & Rebellion, a collective movie realised by fourty French film directors, inspired by an act of violence committed by the French police against the film maker Joachim Gatti. During a peaceful demonstration the French artist was hit in his eye by a flashball shot, a only nominally non-lethal weapon used by French police.

quot_open  Satyagraha is a word deriving from Sanskrit सत्याग्रह meaning ‘truth embrace’ (satya = truth, agraha = entrance). Satyagraha refers to the non-violence philosophy reached through civil resistance introduced by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

What about Gandhi’s philosophy nowadays? What kind of world do we want to build? This movie is not a lesson, there are no explanations in it. It stands as a sensitive space, giving just hints, not answers.  quot_close
